That's cool if you believe it, just lots of people believe something different than you do.

How can we know there is a God?
by defd inone way to determine whether there is a god is to apply this well-established principle: what is made requires a maker.
the more complicated the thing made, the more capable the maker must be.. for example, look around your home.
tables, chairs, desks, beds, pots, pans, plates, and other eating utensils all require a maker, as do walls, floors, and ceilings.

There is a difference between believing and knowing.

Yes you can make a compelling arguement for some sort of designer, and you can make a compelling arguement against, at this point as far as I can see, no one "knows".

Defd is no different from most that I see in any religion. You have the hardcore followers and those that are a little less strict and so on out to the fringes. The biggest difference is most don't belong to an end of the world cult that tears up families, kills people with refusing blood transfusions, and meddles in peoples lives with often horrific results. In the other religions virtue is its own reward for the hardcore, there are no witchhunts and star chamber procedings which is as it should be.

EX JWs - What planted the seed in your mind?
by jstalin ini'm interested in finding out what planted the seed in your mind that got you started on questioning the watchtower.
what issue, event, or idea started you on the path to rejecting the watchtower?
and while we're at it, what event was the straw that broke the camel's back, that pushed you over the edge to finally quitting the organization?

Hated it right out of the gates as a child for jacking my childhood. Then as I got older I started to examine the doctrine and that was all she wrote.

HOTEL CALIFORNIA...and beyond
by tijkmo ini was travelling at the weekend and decided to put the eagles hotel california in the cd player...i have always liked this album but due to my recent music studies i listened to it in a different light...we have been discussing the importance of presentation aswell as good music...and it struck me that this cd has it all...proper balance, the right mix of guitar and keyboard, of heavy and light, of rock and acoustic, great ballads, great lyrics, and great vocals and harmonies, great opening, brilliant ending fade-out.... and all done without drugs.
so whats your favorite eagles top 5. mine are in this order..... no 5.....new kid in town.
no 4.....the sad cafe.

Wohooo ... last university assignment finished !
by Simon init feels soooo good having finished the last assignment for the open university courses i've been doing - the 18th one this year .
now i just have to revise for the exams (3 of them over 2 days) ... and if i get at least 40% then i pass, get an extra qualification and we get extra immigration points to get us on our way to canada.
anything extra is a bonus ... distinctions would be nice but i need to get 85% in the exams for that.. although i resent the impact of the wts on my life and not being able to go to university when i should, this actually isn't a bad way to do it - you don't run up massive debts like current students do and because you have more experience probably do better at a subject than if you are starting out.

Congratulations Simon! I remember when I finished my last class and last exam, what an incredible feeling. Then graduation, where you just sit back and gloat all day over a job well done.
Its kind of ironic with me, I almost have the WBTS to thank for my education, because my hatred for them and what they stood for kept me going when many I time I wanted to pack it in. Just to rub their face in it so to speak.
